THE STORY: JOHNNY WELLS' book of his struggle with his memories of child abuse and repressed psychic experiences has brought him recognition and success. Johnny has also completed his first feature film as writer and director. Everything in Johnny's life couldn't appear to be better. But Johnny is anything but happy. No matter how deep he looks into himself, no matter how many people he meets who have been touched by his personal story...something is missing. ANNE LUNDY'S marriage is falling apart and once repressed memories of sexual abuse are invading her dreams. When she arrives late at work one morning, she is inexplicably fired from her job. Not wanting to confront her emotionally vacuous husband, Anne goes to a coffee house where she meets KAREN, an old high school friend. When Karen hears Anne's story, Karen knows exactly who can help her...Johnny Wells. As Johnny helps Anne deal with the changes in her life, an undeniable attraction begins. Neither of them is comfortable with it, but it's too deep for either to ignore. It opens doors in their lives neither expected, including the appearance of a strange figure that Johnny dubs "THE TATTOOED MAN." But the mystery of the Tattooed Man leads Johnny to learn that he is a harbinger of doom, threatening not only Johnny and Anne's growing relationship but Johnny's life. " Souls" explores the metaphysical phenomenon of soul mates in a mature and realistic fashion and how fate forces the soul to confront fear. Screenplay by Matthew Van Vlack.
